Worker dies from injuries after fall at Summerhill Square construction site
EAST BRUNSWICK -- A worker who fell 30 feet at an East Brunswick construction site on Tuesday died from his injuries hours after the accident, police said Thursday.
Police on Thursday also identified the worker as Michael Testa, 40, of Brick.
Testa was injured around 1:10 p.m. Tuesday when he fell from the roof of a building under construction at the Summerhill Square retail complex on Route 18 South. Police arrived to find that he had suffered a head injury and stopped breathing.
Emergency medical personnel administered CPR and took Testa to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, police Sgt. Paul Natalicchio said. Police said Thursday that he was pronounced dead later that afternoon.
The fall occurred at a construction site at Summerhill Square, near Arthur Street, where a Toys R Us and Babies R Us “superstore” opened in 2008.
Testa was an employee of Lunar Steel of North Brunswick, police said.
The accident was being investigated by East Brunswick police detectives and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
