Catch films from around the world at the East Brunswick Public Library
EAST BRUNSWICK¬– Come by the East Brunswick Public Library and catch some of the most popular movies from around the globe at the Summer International Film Festival 2011. Sponsored by the Friends of The Library, the entries will be shown twice, once at 1:30 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m.
Tuesday, July 12: The King’s Speech is a 2010 film from the UK. Rated R. King George VI struggles to overcome a debilitating stutter with the help of an unconventional speech therapist in this Oscar-winning drama.
Tuesday, July 19: White Wedding is a 2009 film from South Africa. Rated PG-13. A bridegroom and his best man barely make it to the wedding on time when they embark on a journey from Johannesburg to Capetown in this charming road comedy.
Tuesday, July 26: Mademoiselle Chambon is a 2009 film from France. Not rated. When he meets his son’s beautiful school teacher, a happily married man is tempted to cheat on his dutiful wife in this romantic drama.
Tuesday, Aug. 2: Mao’s Last Dancer is a 2009 film from Australia. Rated PG. Chinese ballet dancer Li Cunxin defects to the United States in this inspirational true story.
Tuesday, Aug. 9: The Way Home is a 2002 film from South Korea. Rated PG. Forced to move to his grandmother’s rural village, a spoiled city kid learns the true meaning of love in this heart-warming drama.
Tuesday, Aug. 16: The Concert is a 2009 film from France and Russia. Rated PG-13. Thirty years after being fired from the Bolshoi Orchestra, a group of Jewish musicians reunites to perform a triumphant concert in Paris in this crowd-pleasing comedy.
